Columbia Basin Badger Club and Benton-Franklin Health District are proud to host a special viewing of the film Paper Tigers by acclaimed film director James Redford on November 5, 2015.

Panel discussion to follow

Paper Tigers is an in-depth look into the lives of six students at Lincoln High School, an alternative high school in Walla Walla, WA. Lincoln High was plagued with discipline issues, high suspensions and low graduation rates. That is, until Principal Jim Sporleader learned about the devastating effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences and their impact on development, behavior and learning. Lincoln High decided to radically change how they operate and were the first to integrate a trauma-informed and resilience-building model into the school curriculum and the results are astounding. Lincoln’s trauma-informed model has been so successful that schools from all across the nation are following suit and seeing similar successes among their students.

· Suspensions have dropped 90% · Expulsions are down to zero

· Math and reading scores are up ·  Five-fold increase in graduation rates
