Has this ever happened to you: You engage with a customer service agent on chat or email and later you wonder if the messages were coming from a human or one residing on a silicon chip?

AI is becoming increasingly prevalent in our daily lives.Artificial Intelligence can ingest and analyze large amounts of data, which can help improve disaster management and benefit society. However, like any other technology, AI can be misused and cause harm if not designed ethically and responsibly.

Who defines “ethically and responsibly?” And how do we deal with AI that is designed to confuse or mislead?

Robert Rallo is a carbon-based human AI researcher with three decades of experience working on different aspects of AI. Michael Goodchild, a retired professor of Geography, studies the use of AI to collect and analyze information about location - think of the multiple types of maps and images we see in print and online.
